This paper, written by me currently working in an advertising and branding agency, gives an overview on current design practices, while shedding light on its latest developments in economic contexts. It connects research in today’s design culture, bridges the history of design with practical experience, and points out where the design discourse might be in a leading position and why. It tries to find key aspects for this movement in an analysis of current design publications and links it with theoretical foundations, inter alia Wolfgang Fritz Haug, among others.
